We went to church knowing we needed our family to surround us in one of the hardest times of our lives. I had just delivered Lily at 16 weeks gestation the day before…
Lily’s Story
You can ready Lily’s story to understand all that we went through in the process of giving birth to our sweet girl after she had passed away in my womb at 16 weeks. We delivered her on August 4th, 2018 and I decided to come to church on August 5th, despite not “feeling” like it. I am so incredibly grateful that I did.
Our body of believers is so precious and loving. One friend came up to us before service and squeezed us so tight, and with tears streaming down her face, she said, “Thank you for letting us grieve with you”. I honestly had not considered anyone else would want to grieve alongside us. I had felt so alone in the journey and it was that moment that I felt the first wave of love wash over me that day. I needed to be there, just as much as they needed me to be there. They needed to love on us that day…and oh how they loved on us.

I know for many of you, this may not feel important or worth watching all the way through, but there is something very special that is done at the end that I want to mention.
The song that our worship band is playing is one that I do not recall ever hearing prior to this day. It has since become branded into my soul and will forever be a reminder of once again, how faithful God is.
As our friend Mary wraps us up in the dancers banner, the band begins to play, and these are the words they sing…
“Every seed, buried in sorrow
You will call, forth in its time
You are Lord, Lord of the harvest
Calling our hope, now to arise”
We are seeing that seed being called forth right now…the one that was buried that day in our sorrow is now growing into new life inside of me as we speak. God has called my hope to arise and we are standing on His promises for this new little person He is forming in my womb. Hallelujah, He is faithful!
I would love to share this full song and the lyrics because it is only God who could have so prophetically declared all that He did that day as we stood there with friends and family mourning the loss of our girl.
Lyrics to “There is a Cloud” by Elevation Worship
“Hear the Word, roaring as thunder
With a new, future to tell
For the dry, season is over
There is a cloud, beginning to swell
Lift your eyes, offer your heart
Jesus Christ, opened the heavens
Now we receive, the Spirit of God
We receive Your rain
You will call, forth in its time
You are Lord, Lord of the harvest
Calling our hope, now to arise
We receive Your rain
We receive Your rain
We receive Your rain
Like a flood
We receive Your love
We await, the Promise to come
Everything, that You have spoken
Will come to pass, let it be done!
We receive Your rain
We receive Your rain
We receive Your rain”
We are so grateful that we have this video to share and we are thankful to those of you who are still walking with us through our hills of joy and valleys of grief. We trust that the Lord is faithful to finish what He has started. He is a good, good Father!
